555+ never understood the trouble people go thru just becoz of a few bahts diff! Never tot of time needed to travel one end of Sillypore to another. The parking (if you drive) or bus/MRT fare. Penny wise pound foolish. Unless you are changing millions of $$$ whats savings of a few cents/bucks? :rolleyes:

Bro ah teck and magi, i have to disagree to u guys on this point, but shld i continue wif my comments on this issue?

I am startin to haf a bad feelin tt i have ruffed the feathers of some senior bros here wif my straightforward, honest, maybe harsh at times but non backstabbing sort of comments.

If it is true, then mi being a junior, shld take a step bck frm now on and give short and 'pr' comments. Afterall, mine hope is to make this patts thread as recent as lively, as awesone as the bkk one... But if my efforts are in vain, pls let mi knoe.....

Regarding the currency exchange thingy, from a poor chiongster point of view, it does matter on where you change ur money.

Due to stiff competition there, i would say arcade provides the best rate.

Let me use myself as an exp to gif u a rough breakdown on the slight difference which could make an impact in a poor monger's expense in los...

For instance, in the past , i change my thai baht at bishan j8 money changer(near the lift one), its exchange rate is 24.6 i think( this one roughly).

In arcade where i change now, the exchange rate is easily 25.0.

Lets say i want to change 1k sgd to pay my hotel stay and everything else in patts, i stay 4 nights lah.

In bishan, i get : 24.6 x 1000 = 24600

In arcade, i get: 25.0 x 1000 = 25000

If i change in arcade , i have an extra change of 400 baht.

What can i do with 400 baht???

1) if i am taking cab frm airport to my hotel, i can tip the cab driver. The rest i can tip the waitresses i met in all the clubs i went in 4 nights( i think enuff.)

2) if i take bus via bell service, i can pay off de bus fare. The change i think enuff for me to go kfc eat the spicy chicken rice which comes wif large coke , i think it costs 75 baht lah.

3) i can take the money go minimart buy the durex big box( 12 condoms inside). Still got change for small toothpaste and soap i think...

Lolx... I only list 3 ways on how i would spend te xtras i received. Its up to ur imagination how u wanna use it.

For well to do bros who worried abt parking and so on, no point making the trip lah. But for bros who take pub transport like me, i stay serangoon , when i take mrt to raffles place to and fro, it costs less than 3 bucks i think( chicken rice more ex in sg lolx).

I may sound cheap charlie but i think its nothing wrong wif tt lah. Just dun overdo it. Dun cheapskate until everything u wanna argue wif the ppl at thailand there , u b fine lah . I would say money spent on gals' LD should not save as u need to help her abit to make her feel comfortable wif u and its also makes her high which may aid her showing in the bed later lolx... If u not really a drinker, then go for draft beers like me lah during HH lah hahahahaha...

Oh ya u go the pasar malam or outside market there buy things pls try to bargain, dun let them chop u even if the original price u feel is cheap, it can go cheaper lolx.... If u wanna buy thailand or pattaya shirts( just like me as it looks awesome lolx), pls go outside walking street buy, mayb go to naklua buy even better. I remember first time i buy t shirts near mike mall there which is not far away from WS, i felt chopped as the price at naklua was way cheaper lol. So take note on this lol.

Oh ya, lastly, i bought the black singlet wif the white writing : 'good guy goes to heaven, bad guy goes to pattaya." i tot of buying the "no xxx please" t shirt too. Any other interesting t shirts to look out for? Hee

Why so sensitive? You say u are straight forward speak your mind so I also did the same no forum "senior-junior" power play politics here. Yes now baht is at it's weakest against the sinkie $$$ but not all the time so mine was a general comment.

Your Bht400 gain u havn't deduct the return MRT fare from Serangoon to Raffles Place. There are also intangibles like opportunity cost of time taken to travel and hassle. So if you feel that Bht400 gained (less aforementioned costs) rocks your boat bro then good for you.

But just highlight some discrepancies with what u can do with that extra Bht400. Taking a taxi solo from Swampy to Patts is definitely not one of them. Tip waitresses at AGGs for 4 nights is abit of a stretch on the baht & imagination.

Haha bro, thanks for your advice, but i think to tip all the waitresses u met is possible, lets say in four nights , i go to a total of 8 bars and i tip 8 waitresses on a 20 baht bill each = 160 baht. Taxi driver tip is 50-100 bht( to be clear of cos no include cab fare). I still feel the exchange rate makes a diff lah.... i changed more than 5k sgd dollars at arcade lets say, how much xtra? lolx can take cab alreadi wif tt and count in my mrt trip liao.....

Sorri lah , i go cheap charlie style want, no give face lol , so sure can.... even with 400 baht, wad i sae i sure can do de( even including the mrt fare lolx)...

I had my fair share of going NTUC buy and whack beer to get high b4 entering a bar in orchard towers to tahan wif one coke and nothing else( no proud lah but possible), so i foresee myself doing wad i state.... I just dun wanna ppl to think i tok big in this thread lah....

First time when i go to patts i also took cab but i learnt my lesson, take bus betta hahahahaha... save the money for BF or wad.... I dunno lah for bros who go to patts long time maybe this extra cost thing dun really matter, maybe planning is no longer neccessary but i dunno leh i like the thrill of planning and see where i can spend the money on, like set forecast lik tt lolx shiok.....

A few months ago the rate for Thai baht was not at 25.0. It only hit 25.0 recently. Average at around 24.5 - 24.8. Arcade still offers one of the best rate for Thai baht compared to other areas. But the difference is about 0.2-0.3. So unless you are changing more than 2k sgd. then it's worth making a effort down.

I did went down to arcade to change ALOT at the rate of 24.7. Now it's went up till 25.3 recently. :mad: Anyone in Bangkok needs to change Thai baht can change with me. I offer the same rate as super rich offers for each day. ;)

My rates are for people who are in Bangkok and do not wish to travel to super rich exchange centres or change at the other lower bank exchange rates.

Why would I rather offer a higher rate than arcade/super rich when I am not profiting from it at all?:rolleyes: My intention was just to help fellow cheongsters to get a better rate than go all the way to super rich. Think of the time and money spent just to travel to that outlet.

P.S. 1000sgd and above. Not 100sgd please. :D

You are better off changing your baht in arcade and spend them in patts. In Bangkok , doubt u will be able to enjoy well.

As for rates, i also sometimes hunt for the best rates, but realise the difference in savings come from when u change, rather than where u change, unless u talking abt changing more than S$5k. Was fortunate to catch the rate when it was hovering abt 25.2 recently, but since then it's dropped to 25 or slightly less. The difference of .2 for 5k equates to 1k bht! Can pay for ST in Patts!
